About the mansion
In the heart of Mardin, a stay that touches time
Helen Olimpos Konağı is a traditional Mardin house in the historic Şar quarter, built from the city’s honey-coloured limestone, with vaulted rooms and a courtyard. Thick stone walls keep it cool in summer and warm in winter, and every window frames the Mesopotamian plain differently.
Every stone has a story, every window a view.
Each of the eleven rooms carries the name of an Olympian god. Without touching the original stone architecture, they have been brought into the present with air conditioning, jacuzzis, tea and coffee service and modern bathrooms. Some have an oriental seating corner, some a private terrace, one a Turkish-bath inspired alcove.
The Mansion
Every stone has a story, every window a view.
A generous Turkish breakfast laid out on the terrace in the morning; a glass of tea in the sitting area facing the plain at dusk. Staying here means experiencing Mardin from inside a mansion, not from a hotel room.
