Frequently Asked Questions
Good to know before you arrive
We have gathered the questions guests ask most often about staying with us. If you cannot find the answer you are looking for, just send us a message on WhatsApp.
Where exactly is Helen Olimpos Konağı?
The mansion stands in the Şar quarter of the Artuklu district, the historic heart of old Mardin. Landmarks in the centre such as the Ulu Camii (Great Mosque), the Revaklı Çarşı and the Şehidiye Medresesi are a few minutes away on foot, and the house looks out over the Mesopotamian plain.
Is breakfast included in the room rate?
Yes. A generous spread-style Turkish breakfast is included in the rate for every room. When the weather allows, breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the plain, with local cheeses, jams, hot dishes and freshly brewed tea.
How do I make a reservation?
Bookings are made by WhatsApp or by telephone. Enter your dates and the number of guests in the “Check Availability” form on this site and WhatsApp opens with your message ready to send; you can also call us directly on +90 543 954 16 02.
How many rooms are there and how many guests do they sleep?
The mansion has eleven rooms, each named after a god of Olympus. Rooms sleep two, three or four guests and fall into five categories: standard, deluxe, suite, king and family room.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is until 12:00. If you would like an early check-in or a late check-out, please mention it when you book and we will do our best, subject to availability.
Are there rooms with a jacuzzi or a private hammam?
The Zeus King Room has a jacuzzi, a private hammam and its own terrace. The Hades Deluxe Room has a jacuzzi. As there are only a few of these rooms, we recommend booking early.
What amenities do the rooms have?
Every room has air conditioning, hot water, free Wi-Fi, a television, a minibar, a tea and coffee set, a hairdryer, daily housekeeping and a wake-up service. An extra bed can be added in some rooms.
Is the hotel suitable for families travelling with children?
Yes. The Ares and Apollon family rooms sleep four guests, and Apollon is laid out as a two-part family suite. As this is a historic stone building, there are stairs between the rooms, so please keep that in mind when planning your stay.
Which historic sights can I reach on foot?
The Ulu Camii (Great Mosque), the Şehidiye Medresesi, the Revaklı Çarşı, the Zinciriye Medresesi and the Sakıp Sabancı City Museum are all within walking distance. Deyrulzafaran Monastery, Dara Ancient City, Midyat, Savur and Nusaybin Beyazsu are a short drive away.
What is on the terrace?
The terrace overlooking the plain is open to our guests at any hour. Breakfast is laid out here in the morning and tea and coffee are served in the late afternoon; the sunset and the view over the Mesopotamian plain make it the most loved corner of the mansion.
Which languages do you offer service in?
Our website is available in Turkish, English, Russian, Arabic and Kurdish. You are welcome to send your booking enquiries and questions in any of these languages over WhatsApp.
How do I get to Mardin?
Mardin has its own airport (MQM), around 20 km from the city centre. There are also intercity bus connections and a rail link on the Elazığ–Kurtalan line. The streets of old Mardin are narrow, so the last stretch of the journey is covered on foot.
